Eye Candy Bars

Eye Candy Bars^TM is the creative concoction conceived by the artist Ismael Cavazos.  The images in clouds of his youth were astounding, the artist began sharing his unique visions via the patterns of scrawled scribbles.  Exploring the idea of images in patterns of all kinds, Ismael graduated to the drip painting.  Bringing the images and scenes forward from the patterns involves a painstaking process of hitting the canvas with color between the interlacing lines of the black drips.

Each drip painting is a Matrix from which Cavazos pulls images.  There is the drip painting, the Abstract - and then the found scene, the Extraction. The slow pace of the  Extractions gave rise to a demand for the artist's drip paintings - with no found imagery, the Matrices, alone.  Because there is no content pulled from these drip paintings - "eye candy" bacame an appropriate reference.  The 3" x 5" canvas size along with references from friends that the artist's drip paintings looked like yummy candy yielded an innovative presentation, just when the big chocolate candy bar companies in America are abandoning the elegant and gift-like feel of paper and foil wrap.

The goal of Eye Candy Bars^TM is to get original handmade modern art paintings (miniature or sofa-sized) into homes around the world.

Our Business

Eye Candy Bars^TM was first conceived in 2005 and finally made its debut at IF+D in February 2007.

With an on-line presence since 2005 - commerce capabilities were added in June 2007.

Ismael Cavazos is also responsible for bringing you Scribblism and Art In A Nutshell.  These wonderful creations were featured in an Austin Monthly Magazine article entitled, "Is This Guy Nuts?"
